The HP Middleware Rich Media team is pleased to
announce the availability of the new, early access, Rich Media Platform
technology preview. It is available for download from http://www.hpmiddleware.com/download.

HP Middleware has set out to create a standards-based platform that delivers the ability to integrate rich media assets into traditional applications and services. The Rich Media Platform technology preview is the initial project demonstrating the integration of rich media technologies and HP Middleware.
The first release focuses on the abstraction of the storage of digital assets. Storage abstraction allows a common mechanism for developers to access digital assets from any J2EE application.
future technology previews
In April 2002, a new Rich Media Platform technology preview will be released; it will focus on a framework for metadata. The metadata framework provides a container in which metadata sets can be deployed like application components while still providing the flexibility required by rich media applications.
